The Troy Trojans and Texas State Bobcats clash Saturday in a week 7 college football game from Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The Texas State Bobcats will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their first six games of the year, sitting at 3-3 following a 36-24 upset win over App State last time out as 19-point underdogs. Layne Hatcher has thrown for 1,488 yards, 13 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 62.9% passing while Calvin Hill leads the Bobcats with 308 rushing yards and Lincoln Pare has 276 rushing yards as well this season. Ashtyn Hawkins leads Texas State’s receiving group with 43 grabs for 437 yards and 6 touchdowns while Marcell Barbee has 203 receiving yards and three other receivers have at least 100 receiving yards this season. On defense, Levi Bell has a team-high 5 sacks and Kordell Rodgers has 4 INTs this season.

The Troy Trojans will look to build on their current three-game win streak, improving to 4-2 on the year after a 27-10 win over Southern Miss last time out. Gunnar Watson has thrown for 1,451 yards, 5 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 64.3% passing while DK Billingsley and Kimani Vidal have combined for 570 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns this season. Tez Johnson has a team-high 385 receiving yards while Jabre Barber and Deshon Stoudemire each have 300+ receiving yards as well this season. On defense, Carlton Martial has a team-high 52 total tackles while T.J. Jackson has a team-high 5.5 sacks this season.

Texas State is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a win while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 games in October. Troy is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win.

I get the case to be made for the Bobcats and the points after an impressive showing against App State last time out, but the problem I have is that this Texas State team is a complete Jekyll and Hyde situation as they play very well at home and terribly on the road. Granted, Texas State’s had some tough opposition on the road in Baylor and James Madison, but the Bobcats are being outscored by 27.6 PPG on the road this season. Troy’s not a world-beater by any stretch, but they’ve scored 27+ in four of their last five games and since I’m not expecting much from Texas State here, I think Troy could be in line to get a nice win and cover at home here.
