Colorado Buffaloes vs. Fresno State Bulldogs Free Pick - 9/14/13

The Colorado Buffaloes and Fresno State Bulldogs clash at Folsom Field on Saturday night.
Fresno State and their high powered offense have racked up plenty of points in their 2-0 start but I’m not sure their defense is on the same level. In their opener Rutgers scored at will and a 41-25 win over visiting Cal Poly certainly wasn’t an eye opener. The flip side was the Bulldogs led 34-0 after 30 minutes and coasted so actually this could have been much worse. FSU gained 370 yards with David Carr doing most of the damage through the air with 205 yards on 22-31 and three touchdowns with nine players posting receptions. Six players totaled 140 yards rushing on 40 carries while Isaiah Burse returned a punt 61 yards. The defense shut out the Mustangs in the first half and gave plenty of playing time to others over the final two quarters which hides how dominant Fresno was.
After a big win to open 2013 over instate rival Colorado State the Buffaloes out scored Central Arkansas 38-24 in week two. The Bears acutually held a seven point lead in the fourth before Colorado ended the game on a 21-0 tear to secure the victory. The offense probably bought the defense dinner with the unit bringing back a pair of picks for six and having to rebound from four giveaways. The Buffaloes totaled 425 yards with Tony Jones leading the way on the ground with 58 rushing yards while Connor Wood exploded for 325 passing yards with touchdown thitems of 30, 39 and 56 yards that was tainted some what by two interceptions in a game that was closer than the final score might indicate.
Both teams are still a bit of a mystery to me which means I need to see more of them. I do think that Fresno State has the weapons to cover more so than Colorado…
