2013-10-12 02:30:00 EDT
The Boston College Eagles head down to Death Valley to play the Clemson Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Boston College bounced back against Army this weekend with a 48-27 win and is now 3-2 on the year. Boston College won their first two games of the year before losing at USC and at home against Florida State. Against Army, Boston College played great offensively, producing 523 total yards with a balanced attack. RB Andre Williams carried the ball 30 times for an incredible 263 yards and 5 touchdowns. QB Rettig completed 11 of 13 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown in the win. WR Amidon led all receivers with 5 catches for 122 yards for Boston College. Rettig has 891 passing yards and 9 touchdowns on the year, while Williams has 768 yards on the ground with 7 touchdowns. Amidon has caught 32 balls for 26 yards and two touchdowns this season. The Boston College defense allowed 427 yards against Army, with 326 coming on the ground. This is a Boston College defense that gave up 35 points to USC and 48 to Florida State the previous two weeks. The Eagles rank 66th in the country in points allowed, giving up 26.8 points per game. The Eagles offense ranks 108th in passing yards and 53rd in rushing yards produced in the country so far this season. Boston College will have to play a perfect game to even have a chance of beating Clemson this weekend in Death Valley.
The Clemson Tigers are a perfect 5-0 on the year and 3-0 in ACC competition after besting Syracuse 49-14 this past weekend. Clemson has quality wins over Georgia and on the road and at North Carolina State so far this season. At Syracuse, the Tigers produced an incredible 624 yards on offense, with 468 coming through the air. QB Tajh Boyd threw for 455 yards with 5 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. WR Sammy Watkins caught 4 balls for 126 yards and 1 touchdown. RB McDowell rushed 13 times for 41 yards in the win. Boyd has thitemn for 1449 yards and 14 touchdowns so far this season. McDowell has rushed for 294 yards, while Watkins has hauled in 29 balls for 481 yards and three touchdowns this season. The Tigers defense held Syracuse to 14 points and 397 total yards. Clemson forced 4 turnovers and did a great job getting off the field on third down. The Clemson Tigers rank 16th in points allowed at 16.6 per game and 14th in points scored with 44.2 a game this season. The Tigers rank 11th in passing yards with 343 per game and 66th in rushing yards with 174 per contest. Clemson will head home and will need to stay focused against a Boston College team that scared Florida State two weeks ago.
The Eagles are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings with Clemson. The Tigers are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall. The under is 17-5 in the Eagles last 22 games following an ATS win. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Clemson.
The Clemson Tigers have won the last 2 meetings against Boston College, including a 14 point win at Boston College last year. The only road game Boston College played this year was against USC and they lost by 28 after being dominated on both sides of the ball. Clemson has been lights out at home so far this year and I don’t see them slowing down in this one. Clemson will put up 45 or more points and Boston College will be lucky to get 20 on the scoreboard. I’ll take Clemson to win by 28 to 30 points and the over may be a good play too.
