The Calgary Stampeders and Montreal Alouettes meet Friday in CFL action at Molson Stadium.
The Calgary Stampeders play their third road game of the season already and hope to build on a 2-0-1 start. The Calgary Stampeders are 7-1-1 in their last nine road games. Bo Levi Mitchell is completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 1,003 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. Levi Mitchell has 38 touchdown passes in his last 20 games played. Kamar Jorden and Lemar Durant have combined for 437 receiving yards and five touchdowns while Marquay McDaniel has 16 receptions. The Calgary Stampeders ground game is averaging 84.3 yards per contest, and Jerome Messam leads the way with 187 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, Calgary is allowing 26.7 points and 412.3 yards per game. Alex Singleton leads the Calgary Stampeders with 24 tackles, Micah Johnson has three sacks and Jamar Wall has one interception.
The Montreal Alouettes could use a statement win here to get back to a .500 record. The Montreal Alouettes have split their last six home games. Darian Durant is completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 644 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Durant has 17 touchdown passes in his last 18 games played. B.J. Cunningham and Nik Lewis have combined for 344 receiving yards and one touchdown while Tiquan Underwood has eight receptions. Defensively, Montreal is allowing 20.7 points and 371.3 yards per game. Kyries Hebert leads the Montreal Alouettes with 21 tackles, John Bowman has one sack and Jonathon Mincy has one interception.
The Stampeders are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games, 1-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games overall. The Alouettes are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 home games, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Stampeders are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 meetings and the under is 6-0 in the last 6 meetings.
Despite Calgary winning games, I haven't been that impressed with its start, as the defense has been questionable at best and the Stampeders were outplayed last week by Winnipeg but were bailed out by turnovers. The Alouettes beat the Stampeders the last time they played them and have a ground game that can help keep the ball away from Calgary. Regardless of who wins this game, this feels like a little too much respect towards the Stampeders, a club that's playing their third road game already. I'll take the Alouettes and the points.
