The Saskatchewan Roughriders and Ottawa Redblacks meet Sunday in the CFL Division Semifinals at TD Place Stadium.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are in the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and hope to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since June. The Saskatchewan Roughriders have won four straight road games. Kevin Glenn is completing 67.9 percent of his passes for 4,038 yards, 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Glenn has zero touchdown passes in five of his last seven games. Duron Carter and Naaman Roosevelt have combined for 2,078 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns while Bakari Grant has 84 receptions. The Saskatchewan Roughriders ground game is averaging 82.1 yards per contest, and Cameron Marshall leads the way with 543 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Saskatchewan is allowing 23.9 points and 368 yards per game. Henoc Muamba leads the Saskatchewan Roughriders with 82 tackles, Willie Jefferson has eight sacks and Ed Gainey has 10 interceptions.
The Ottawa Redblacks officially begin their title defense after winning the Grey Cup last season. The Ottawa Redblacks have lost four of their last six home games. Trevor Harris is completing 69.6 percent of his passes for 4,679 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Harris has two or more touchdown passes in 10 of his last 13 games. Greg Ellingson and Brad Sinopoli have combined for 2,468 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns while Diontae Spencer has 71 receptions. The Ottawa Redblacks ground game is averaging 94.6 yards per contest, and William Powell leads the way with 1,026 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Ottawa is allowing 25.1 points and 400.7 yards per game. Taylor Reed leads the Ottawa Redblacks with 94 tackles, Avery Ellis has six sacks and Antoine Pruneau has four interceptions.
The Roughriders are 4-1-2 ATS in their last 7 playoff games, 0-4-2 ATS in their last 6 Division Semifinals games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss. The RedBlacks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 playoff games, 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in November and 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games overall. The Roughriders are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. The under is 11-4-1 in RedBlacks last 16 games overall and the under is 7-1 in Roughriders last 8 games overall.
The Redblacks obviously have the playoff experience edge and are at home, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders have had great success on the road this season and haven't lost back-to-back games since the first two weeks of the season. The road team has won four of the last five meetings between these two teams and Saskatchewan is outscoring teams by 11 points in its last three games. Not to mention Ottawa hasn't been as consistent as it would like at home this season and is only outscoring teams by 2.4 points overall this season. I'll take the Roughriders on the road in this playoff game.
