Calgary Stampeders vs. BC Lions CFL Pick, Odds, Prediction - 8/4/18

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Stampeders look for yet another victory to start the season with a ridiculous 7-0 record. The Calgary Stampeders have won three straight home games. Bo Levi Mitchell is completing 66.9 percent of his passes for 1,517 yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. Levi Mitchell has two or more touchdown passes in seven of his last 12 games. Kamar Jorden and Eric Rogers have combined for 724 receiving yards and eight touchdowns while DaVaris Daniels has 24 receptions. The Calgary Stampeders ground game is averaging 116.5 yards per contest, and Don Jackson leads the way with 442 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Calgary is allowing 11.3 points and 261.5 yards per game. Alex Singleton leads the Calgary Stampeders with 35 tackles, Micah Johnson has four sacks and Brandon Smith has two interceptions.

The Lions are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 road games, 1-5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games. The Stampeders are 20-9 ATS in their last 29 home games, 5-2 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Lions are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Calgary, 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.

The BC Lions aren't terrible and have had an extra week to prepare, so the value of the points is there if you feel the need to be different. However, the Calgary Stampeders are back in one of those zones where they not only win games but cover the number week after week. The Calgary Stampeders have not only covered five of their last six games and 20 of their last 29 games, but they've covered eight of their last 11 games as a double-digit favorite. Also, six of Calgary's last eight wins over BC have been decided by double digits. Sometimes you just blindly back a team based on the overwhleming trends, and the Stampeders have become one of those teams.
