The Kentucky Wildcats are once again loaded this season with fresh young talent and they are the number one ranked team in the nation. Thus far UK has done nothing to prove the pollsters wrong as they have won in blowout fashion in each of their first two games albeit against weak competition. Julius Randle is averaging 22.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game to lead the Cats. Aaron Harrison is averaging 13 points and three rebounds and Andrew Harrison is averaging 10.5 points and 3.5 assists. Marcus Lee is averaging 10 points and Alex Poythress is averaging 9.5 points and 10 rebounds as Kentucky’s starting five are once again are as impressive as any. Kentucky is averaging 91 points per game, 49.5 rebounds, and they are shooting 50.9 percent from the floor.

The Michigan State Spartans have played just one game thus far this season but it was a blowout over McNeese State. With several returning players from last year’s team Michigan State pulled out to a 27 point halftime lead and then cleared the bench and cruised to a 44 point win. Gary Harris led the way for Sparty with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Branden Dawson had 12 points and 12 rebounds and Denzel Valentine had 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Keith Appling had 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists and Travis Trice had 11 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. MSU shot 51.9 percent from the floor, 38.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 80 percent from the free throw line though they took just five foul shots. With their experience big games are nothing new to Michigan State.
Kentucky is 6-1 against the spread against the Big Ten, 5-1 against the spread in their last six non-SEC games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. Michigan State is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games against the SEC, 1-5-1 against the spread following a win, and 2-7 against the spread following a game where they scored 90 or more points.
