The La Salle Explorers and the Quinnipiac Bobcats face off on Tuesday Morning in a college basketball matchup.
The LaSalle Explorers went to the half in their opener against Manhattan with a two-point lead but the game ended in a tie and the Explorers lost by nine. Tyrone Garland had a big game scoring 28 points and having four assists but he eventually fouled out and that was part of La Salle’s undoing. Tyreek Duren had 17 points, nine assists, and five rebounds, Jerrell Wright had 16 points and four rebounds, and Sam Mills has 15 points and four assists. LaSalle shot 41.5 percent from the floor, 31.6 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 75 percent from the free throw line. The big differential for the Explorers was they were outrebounded 48-22.

The Quinnipiac Bobcats went to the half trailing Hartford by 11 in their season opener but they bounced back in the second half outscoring their opponent by 16 and getting the win. Ike Azotam scored 20 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the Bobcats. Zaid Hearst had 17 points and six rebounds, Kasim Chandler had 11 points, and A.J. Sumbry had 10 points. Quinnipiac shot 46.2 percent from the floor, 36.4 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and they made 62.5 percent of their free throws. Quinnipiac won the battle of the boards by 15 and they should have a big edge in this game there as well.
LaSalle is 5-1 against the spread following a game which they didn’t cover the spread, 4-1 against the spread in their last six home games, and 4-1 against the spread against Metro Atlantic opponents. Quinnipiac is 4-10 against the spread in their last 14 games and 1-4 against the spread in their last five non-conference games.
LaSalle was just so awful on the boards it is tough to believe they will improve so dramatically here against a team who was dominant so as difficult as it is for me to type and spell it one more time I will roll with Quinnipiac and the double digits.
