The Wright State Raiders shoot for the huge upset of the Georgetown Hoyas on Wednesday.
Wright State was a Horizon power several years ago before having to rebuild and the fruit of their labor might be rippe for the picking in 2013-14. The Raiders are experience and talented and should be in the running for the conference crown. WSU opened the season with an 82-49 rout of Mount St Joseph in what amounted to little more then a scrimmage. Wright State dominated the boxscore with over 56% shooting while forcing 21 turnovers and owning a 16-1 edge at the foul line. AJ Pacher tossed in a game high 21 points with five pulls followed by JT Yoho and his 17 points while Jerran Young and Steven Davis added ten points each and a combined 16 rebounds.

The always tough Hoyas will manage to do their share of damage in the Big East but how much is the question. It seems we have had to watch this team several weeks before getting a feel for them the last few years and that might not change. An 82-75 defeat to Oregon in the season opener was not what they had planned and belied the fact they shot at over 47% but killed their chances with a 1-15 performance from beyond the arc. The Ducks won this at the foul line with a staggering 36-20 advantage with the Hoyas whistled for 30 personals. Joshua Smith led Georgetown with 25 points before fouling out Markel Starks adding 16 while Jabril Trawick and Mikael Hopkins combined for 21 points. The problem was getting production outside of these four along with foul trouble at crunch time.
I think Wright State can hang with the Hoyas IF Reggie Arceneaux and Cole Darling play. If they do I will gobble up the points and be on them...
