The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Texas Tech Red Raiders face off on Thursday in Tuscaloosa in a college basketball matchup.
The Alabama Crimson Tide started the season with high hopes but they were dashed in their first game as they fell to Oklahoma by nine points. The Tide were a four point favorite and while they led at the half Alabama was unable to hold on for the win. Algie Key had 20 points and four rebounds to lead Alabama in the losing effort. Retin Obasohan had 14 points and Trevor Releford had 12 points. Rodney Cooper had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Nick Jacobs added 10 rebounds. Alabama shot 47.5 percent from the floor but just 20 percent from beyond the three-point arc and 70.6 percent from the free throw line. Alabama was also rebounded and turned the ball over 14 times, they will need to improve on these numbers if they hope to have success this season.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders are off to a 2-0 start to the season but Tubby Smith’s squad has some tough work ahead of them in the ever difficult Big 12. Texas Tech opened the season with a 15 point win over Houston Baptist and then pounded Northern Arizona by 20. Robert Turner is averaging 16.5 points to lead Texas Tech in scoring. Jordan Tolbert averages 15 points and 9.5 rebounds, Jaye Crockett averages 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, and Dusty Hannahs averages 10.5 points. Texas Tech is averaging 82 points per game shooting 51.9 percent from the floor, 38.5 percent from three-point land, and 62.5 percent from the free throw line. Texas Tech has also been winning the battle of the boards.
Alabama is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games, 6-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games against the Big 12. Texas Tech is 4-0 against the spread against the SEC, 5-15 against the spread in their last 20 non-conference games, and 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 road games.
While the Crimson Tide will be asserting themselves and looking for redemption after losing to a a Big 12 school in their opener this is a bundle of points and I am going to take them.
