The Cal Golden Bears and the Oakland Grizzlies face off on Friday Night in College Basketball action.
The Cal Golden Bears have opened their season 2-0 and after going to the NCAA Tournament last season and winning a game over UNLV, they are looking to take it up a level. Cal opened the season beating Coppin State by 19 points and the followed it up with a 27 point win over Denver. Tyrone Wallace leads Cal with 18 points per game and 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. Justin Cobbs is averaging 13 points and 6.0 assists, Jabari Bird is averaging 11 points and 5.0 rebounds, David Kravish is averaging 11 points and 7.0 rebounds, and Richard Solomon is averaging 9.5 points and 13 rebounds. Cal is averaging 80 points per game while shooting 48.8 percent, 33.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 64.4 percent from the free throw line.

The Oakland Grizzlies are of to a 0-2 start but you would be hard pressed to find a team who has played a tougher schedule thus far. Oakland opened the season at North Carolina where they lost by 23 points and then they went to UCLA where they lost by 31. Travis Bader is Oakland’s leading scorer averaging 18.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. Duke Mondy averages 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds, Tommy McCune is averaging 8.5 points and 2.5 rebounds, and Corey Petros is averaging 7.5 point and 4.5 rebounds. Oakland is averaging 60.5 points per game shooting just 33.3 percent from the floor, 28 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 81.8 percent from the three-point line.
Cal is 5-2-1 against the spread in their last eight home games, 8-3-1 against the spread in their last 12 games overall, and 2-9-1 against the spread in their last 12 home games against a team with a losing road record. Oakland is 0-4 against the spread following a loss, 5-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 0-7 against the spread in their last seven games overall.
The good news for Oakland is they aren’t going to see anything from Cal they haven’t already seen this season and getting 18.5 points I am going to take Oakland is what is just a lean as the trends against them are just so bad the books have adjusted this line upwards.
