The Tennessee State Tigers look to hand the #16 Wichita State Shockers their first defeat.
Tennessee State lost some talent to graduation which has been a part of their 0-3 start in 2013-14. The points have been difficult to come by but not so much for the opposition although the offense was largely a factor in 63-52 loss to Western Michigan. The Tigers trailed 31-21 at the half before getting un tracked in the final 20 minutes but it was too late by then. The Broncos didn't shoot the lights out at 38% but TSU struggled even more at less then 32% with a 3-23 effort from long range. That would have been competitive were it not for WMU holding a 17-9 edge at the stripe. Patrick Miller led the offense with 17 points, five pulls and five assists with MJ Rhett chipping in with ten points and nine rebounds.

Wichita State is the favorite to win the Missouri Valley which seems to be the case every season. The Shockers are one of the best mid majors in the country and are a threat to some of the bigger names once again. WSU is off to a 3-0 start following a 79-62 decision over William & Mary. The Shockers were played even through 20 minutes before a 41-23 second half ended the upset hopes of the Tribe. Both teams finished with around 48% shooting but WSU held advantages on the glass, owned a +11 margin at the line and mustered more shots. Fred VanSleet paced the attack with 18 pointsand eight helpers followed by Cleanthony Early with 14 while Ron Baker and Kadeem Coleby added 13 and ten points respectively. Ten players saw the floor overall and eight found their way in to the scoring column.
Wichita State should have gotten a wake up call from their poor first half performance versus William & Mary. I don't typically bet big favorites so take that in consideration here...
