The 3-1 Milwaukee Panthers visit the 1-2 Northern Illinois Huskies in a Sunday afternoon MAC-Horizon battle.
Milwaukee got their 3rd win with a 77-66 victory over the James Madison Dukes this past week. Milwaukee was outrebounded by the Dukes, but got to the line early and often and finished the contest and that proved to be the distance, despite the Panthers not shooting it all that well there. Jordan Aaron led all scorers with 24 for Milwaukee and forward Matt Tibby added 16 and 13 rebounds down low. The win was the Panthers 3rd in a row and although the season is young, Milwaukee currently sits in first place in the always competitive Horizon conference.

Northern Illinois has had a rough go of it out of the gate this season but hope to have turned the corner after they edged San Jose State 60-59 on Saturday in front of their host crowd in Dekalb. The Huskies had to rely on the play of two players -- Jordan Threloff and Daveon Balls -- to get the win. Threloff and Balls combined for 32 points off the bench and the rest of the Huskies lineup went a combined 4-37 from the field in the narrow victory. While the win is a step in the right direction, the Huskies cannot afford to shoot so poorly against a much more solid Milwaukee team this afternoon.
Milwaukee is the superior team here and I expect them to have a solid support team in place despite the tournament being held at NIU. I like Matt Tibby’s size down low and the consistent ability for Jordan Aaron to create for himself and get buckets to be the difference as the Panthers grab the cover and the trophy at the NIU invitational this afternoon.
