The Georgia State Panthers look to out score the Alabama Crimson Tide on Tuesday.
Georgia State left the Colonial for the Sun Belt and would have been a challenger in their old conference but are the favorite in their new league. The reason is their big offense that has led to a 2-1 record in the early going after routing McNeese State 96-70. The Panthers made short work of the Cowboys with a 54-35 lead after 20 minutes and continued the carnage until the final horn. True to form GSU connected on 55.6% from the floor including 10-19 from long range while limiting McNeese to 38%. The Panthers also led at the foul line 16-5 and grabbed 14 more rebounds while seeing five players break ten points. Devonta White and RJ Hunter paced the scoring with 18 points each followed by Rashaad Richardson with 15 while Manny Atkins and Ryan Harrow added 12 points apiece.

After a season opening loss to Oklahoma, Alabama has rebounded with consecutive victories over Texas Tech and Stillman who were easily handled by 102-65 count. The Crimson Tide were simply too talented for the Tigers with advantages throughout the boxscore. Bama exploded from the gate to take a 52-35 lead in the locker room and never took their foot off the gas. Almost 59% sharpshooting led the offense while the defense held Stillman to 35.8% and forced 22 turnovers. Points were flowing with six players cracking double figures with Levi Randolph tossing in a game high 17 with Retin Obasohan adding 15. Nick Jacobs scored another 13 points while Trevor Releford and Algie Key contributed 12 each with Carl Engstrom dropping in ten points. Eleven players saw the floor and all found the scoring column.
The question here is whether Georgia State can score on the Alabama defense because this is the key, plain and simple. If the Tide score some points I don't see them losing but offense can be an issue. I'll take the points but this might be a basket or two short...
