The Drexel Dragons take the floor with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in Tuesday night action.
After opening the season with a hard fought loss at UCLA, Drexek shoots for third consecutive win after upending Elon 71-64. This one was more tense then it might have appeared with the Dragons ten point lead at the break dwindling to four points in the final minute before free throws sealed the deal. Both teams hit shots in the 44% range with Drexel sinking a few more threes and a few more foul shots while holding a +14 on the glass including a 10-1 mark on the offensive back boards. Chris Fouch paced the Dragons in the scoring department with 22 points with Damion Lee adding 16 points and six pulls while Tavon Allen tossed in 15 points.
Rutgers has not been given a lot of press in the preseason or in the early going and are trying to change that. The Scarlet Knights improved to 3-1 after spanking Canisius 66-51 behind a 40-23 second half explosion that erased a two point deficit at the break. Rutgers did struggle to find the shooting touch at 36.5% but the Golden Griffins had even bigger issues putting the ball in the hole at 33% accuracy. The difference was a 45-33 edge on the glass for Rutgers which led to a few more looks and a 14-5 advantage at the charity stripe. Jerome Seagears led four double digit scorers with 15 points and nine assists with Kadeem Mack tossing in 13 points and hauling in eleven boards followed by Wally Judge and D'Von Campbell who combined for 21 points with Judge grabbing 12 boards.
The line seems right but from what I have seen from both teams says there is not a night and day difference. If true I would rather have the points on my side...
