The Wisconsin Badgers and the North Dakota Fighting Sioux face off on Tuesday in Madison in college basketball action.
The Wisconsin Badgers are NCAA Tournament regulars and while some are seeing this as somewhat of a rebuilding year Wisconsin should still be force. Wisconsin has opened the season with three wins including a win over Florida and St. John’s. Sam Dekker leads the Badgers averaging 15 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Ben Brust is averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists, Traevon Jackson is averaging 10.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, and Josh gasser is averaging 10 points. Frank Kaminsky is continuing to develop and he averages 8.7 points and 5.3 rebounds with 2.3 blocks. Wisconsin is averaging 71.3 points while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor, 41 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 73.8 percent from the free throw line.

The North Dakota Fighting Sioux have played just one game thus far and with the one game being against Minnesota Morris it is tough to get much of a read on them at all. Last season North Dakota finished 16-17 and in the middle of the pack in the Big Sky Conference. Aaron Anderson was the leading scorer in ND’s first game scoring 25 points with three rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Troy Huff and Lenny Antwi each had 18 points. Quinton Hooker had 17 points and four assists while Jaron Nash scored 15 points and had eight rebounds. North Dakota scored 110 points and shot a blazing 57.3 percent from the floor while they allowed 69 points and their opponent shot 40.7 percent. This is a big step up for the Fighting Sioux.
Wisconsin is 6-2 against the spread in their last eight home games and 0-4 against the spread when their opponent scored 100 or more points their previous game. North Dakota are 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games, 6-0 against the spread in their last six lined games, and 2-6 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
This is a huge number against a team like NDSU who can score points and while I like Wisconsin to win the game North Dakota covers the point spread.
