The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders look to knock off the #14 Florida Gators.
Middle Tennessee State was a monster in the Sun Belt but with a load of talent back it will be interesting to see how this team stacks up in the stronger CUSA. We shall see but so far it's been smooth sailing for the Blue Raiders who are 4-0 but have yet to face a team that is considered a contender some where. MTSU comes in off a 76-59 rout of former Sun Belt rival Arkansas-Little Rock behind strong performances at both ends of the floor. The Blue Raiders simply out shot the Trojans 47%-29.8% with UALR sinking just 14 field goals. Kerry Hammonds led the scoring with 20 points with Shawn Jones connecting for 19 points and 12 rebounds followed by Reggie Upshaw Jr and Tweety Knight tossing in 13 and eleven points.

It looks like another big season for Florida basketball which means they will be a factor in the SEC and eventually end up in the Big Dance where they will be a threat. In other words the Gators are loaded with talent as they bring a 3-1 record to the table after blasting Southern 67-53. UF essentially ended all mystery if there was any with a 35-19 lead after 20 minutes. The numbers were actually close in some areas with both teams sinking shots at around 40% with 17 offensive boards by the Gators leading to 14 more attempts which was decisive. Patric Young led a trio of DD scorers with 12 points and six pulls with DeVon Walker and Casey Prather adding ten points apiece with the latter grabbing nine rebounds.
Both teams have faced three of the same opponents and won with Florida winning a bit more impressively. I have watched the Blue Raiders steam roll the Sun Belt only to lose in the playoffs so I don't have much faith in them when it comes to big games...
