The Line: Virginia Commonwealth Rams -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The VCU Rams and the Florida State Seminoles face off on Thursday in San Juan for college basketball’s Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
The Virginia Commonwealth Rams aren’t going to be flying under any radar when it comes to college basketball as they haven’t just been regulars in the NCAA Tournament, they are a team that makes a lot of noise once they get there. VCU is off to a 3-0 start and Shaka Smart’s team is ranked 10th in the nation. Treveon Graham leads VCO averaging 16.3 points and 6.3 rebounds. Juvonta Reddic averages 11 points and 1.7 steals, Rob Brandenberg averages 10 points, 2.3 assists, and 3.0 steals, and Briante Weber averages 9.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 4.0 steals. VCU averages 82.3 points while shooting 47 percent from the floor, 39.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 61.8 percent from the free throw line. While their opponents average 61.7 points and shoot 38.9 percent. VCU is once again rock solid on both ends of the court.

The Florida State Seminoles are off to a 3-0 start but they haven’t faced anywhere near the level of competition they will face here. FSU started with a win over Jacksonville and followed it up with wins over UCF and Tennessee Martin. Okaro White is averaging 16 points and 6.3 rebounds to lead the Noles. Devon Bookert is averaging 15.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.3 blocks, Ian Miller is averaging 15.3 points and 3.3 rebounds, and Aaron Thomas is averaging 12.7 points and 4.0 steals. Florida State is averaging 86.7 points and they are shooting 53.7 percent from the floor, 37.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 69.4 percent from the free throw line and their opponents shoot 38.5 percent and score 65.3 points per game.
VCU is 5-1 against the spread in their last six non-conference games, 7-3 against the spread against the ACC, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven neutral site games. Florida State is 5-1 against the spread in their last six neutral site games, 4-1 against the spread against the A-10, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games.
This one will be all about defense but in the end VCU is just way too much and I look for them to cover comfortably.
