The Georgetown Hoyas and the Kansas State Wildcats face off on Friday afternoon in San Juan in a losers bracket game in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Classic.
The Georgetown Hoyas are coming off of a disappointing loss as most though it was a given that they would at the very least beat Northeastern but in the end they fell short. The Hoyas took and 11 point lead into the half against the Huskies but they let it get away from them as Northeastern made all of the clutch plays and all of the clutch shots. D'Vauntes Smith Rivera led Georgetown with 14 points and four rebounds. Markel Starks had 9 points, Joshua Smith had 9 points and 6 rebounds, and Nate Lubick had six points and six rebounds. Georgetown shot just 36 percent from the floor going 3 of 16 from beyond the three-point arc and they lost the battle of the boards. Georgetown let it slip away as it looked like Northeastern simply wanted it more.

The Kansas State Wildcats lost to Charlotte on Thursday morning in a game where they simply had no answers for the 49ers. K-State was able to draw the game even at the half after trailing for most of it but in the second half Charlotte scored first and never looked back. Nigel Johnson scored 14 points and had six rebounds coming off the bench to lead KSU. Shane Southwell had 11 points and 9 rebounds, Marcus Foster had 11 points, and Will Spradling had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Thomas Gipson returned from a concussion but he fouled out after playing just 8 minutes. Kansas State shot 37.3 percent from the floor and hit just 5 of 26 from beyond the 2-point arc. Kansas State was beaten up and dominated on the boards.
Georgetown is 4-0 against the spread against the Big 12, 1-4 against the spread in their last five Friday games, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four neutral site games. Kansas State are 5-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 neutral site games, and 0-4 against the spread against the Big East.
While there is some talent on KSU i have little faith in Bruce Webber and I look for Georgetown to bounce back from THursday's disappointment and get the win an cover the spread in the process.
