The Georgia Bulldogs and Temple Owls take the hardwood in the Charleston Classic on Friday.
After knocking off Wofford to open the season Georgia has dropped back to back contests following a 94-82 loss to Davidson in the first round of the Charleston Classic. The Bulldogs have been putting the ball in the basket thus far in the early going and that trend continued versus the Wildcats but the defense struggled to defend the shot. UGA actually out shot Davidson 55.8%-45% but were out scored at the stripe 34-19 in the one area that was substanially different in the boxscore. Nemanja Djurisic and Charles Mann paced the scoring with 18 and 17 points respectively followed by a 13 point effort by Kenny Gaines and ten points from Cameron Forte.

Before the season began there were questions about Temple's ability to score and a general lack of experience. The Owls had been able to find the bottom of the basket often enough until Thursday when Clemson handed them a 72-58 defeat in the opening round of the Charleston Classic. The defense also struggled with the Tigers exploding for 41 second half points to erase a three point deficit. The Owls connected at only 30% from the field versus nearly 45% by Clemson which translated in to seven more field goals which was the difference with everything else about even. Will Cummings pumped in 22 points on 8-18 with Quenton DeCosey adding 15 on 4-14. Cummings was the only player that approached 50% shooting with the rest of the team going a combined 11-45.
This could be a long season for the Owls with so much production lost but Georgia looks to be about on equal footing. No line on this yet but my guess is Temple as a slight favorite...
