The Idaho Vandals and North Texas Mean Green face off in a Coaches vs.Cancer Classic match up.
North Texas has proven to be a capable offensive team in the early stages of 2013-14 but they have not been stout defensively. The Mean Green needed to squeeze just a bit more from both ends of the floor in a 70-66 loss to Columbia. UNT trailed by ten heading in to the locker room but a second half rally fell short of the mark. The Lions held a 47%-36% edge in the shooting department which included 12 long balls but North Texas forced 16 turnovers to forge 15 more attempts to stay close. Vertrail Vaughns paced the offense with 18 points with Alzee Williams tossing in 12 while Jordan Williams added eleven points and five rebounds.

Idaho's offense and defense have been all over the map in the early going as they try to establish an identity and some consistency going forward. The scoring was strong but the defense struggled in an 88-74 loss to Portland on Thursday that dropped the Vandals to 2-2. Idaho trailed by ten in the first 20 minutes but were never able to cut in to the deficit. Despite a 46.6%-38% shooting advantage the Pilots sank just one more shot but they did turn 25 Vandals personals in to a huge 31-15 margin which was decisive.Idaho did manage an extral ten shots but that effort was null and void because of their shooting problems. Stephen Madison was the lone double digit scorer for Idaho with 19 points and six yanks with Mike Scott adding nine while three others chipped in with eight points.
There really isn't a whole lot to go on here with neither team having an advantage that jumps out. I will back North Texas but both are risky in my view...
