The Delaware Blue Hens take on the Villanova Wildcats for the fifth straight time looking for their first win.
Delaware is supposed to be one of the top teams in the CAA although we don't know if that's based on past performance or is a guess. The Blue Hens began the season with consecutive two point defeats before blasting Hampton and Army by double figures. UD easily handled the Black Knights 89-74 where they ran out to an eight point cushion by the half and kept up the pressure through the final buzzer. Neither team defended well with the Hens holding a 47%-45% edge but they did total ten more shots and sank five more threes. All five starters reache DD in scoring with Jarvis Threatt tossing in 21 points followed by Kyle Anderson and Davon Usher with 16 points each while Carl Baptiste and Marvin King-Davis contributed 14 and 13 points. This unit accounted for 30 rebounds and 80 points altogether.

Villanova hasn't been in the spotlight over the past few years so goal number one is to get that swagger back in the new look Big East. A 3-0 start is a good way to build towards that goal although I'm not sure if it's the result of a weak schedule or decent play. I do know the Wildcats dismantled a pretty good Towson club 78-44 which shocked me. Nova was up by 22 by the half and never let up behind a stifling defense that allowed 31% shooting and forced 24 turnovers which came in handy with the offense checking in at 40% from the field. Villanova sank held an 8-2 edge on threes and 24-8 at the charity stripe with the Tigers whistled for 24 personals. James Bell paced the attack with 20 points followed by JayVaughn Pinkston and Ryan Arcidiacono with 12 points each while Darrun Hilliard tossed in ten.
If Saddler were playing I would prefer Delaware because they are not a bad team but they will get kicked around if they fall behind early. Taking the points and another Villanova rout should be a reason to start looking at this team. As a Delaware fan I can't take the hated Wildcats...
