The Vermont Catamounts visit Cameron Indoor Stadium to take the floor with the Duke Blue Devils.
Vermont is labeled as a challenger in the America East but have struggled out of the gate to a 1-4 record. Both ends of the floor has had some problems but getting consistency from their defense seems to be the biggest area of concern. A 68-61 loss at Wagner was lost in the first half where the Catamounts trailed by 13 and tried to play catch the rest of the way. The Seahawks led in the shooting department 45.8%-38.8% with a 5-10 mark on threes being decisive with Vermont saddled with an 0-12 effort. Clancy Rugg tossed in a team high 18 points with nine rebounds before fouling out in 23 minutes while Candin Rusin and Hector Herald combined for 21 points.

Aside from their last minute meltdown in a loss to Kansas, Duke has looked like the team that is penciled in as the favorite in the always rugged ACC. An 83-74 decision over East Carolina was their third straight win but was not typical Duke with the defense struggling to get stops at times. This appeared to be headed for a rout with Duke leading by eleven but the Pirates exploded for 42 points in the second half to stay competitive. In the end the Blue Devils squeezed out a few more baskets and held a +5 edge at the line to win. Rodney Hood led all scores with 30 points and five yanks in 40 minutes with Jabari Parker adding 21 points and nine rebounds while Quinn Cook tossed in 14 points and handed out ten assists.
I think Vermont is better then they have shown and could just need to face a team like Duke to prove it. I'm going to take the potential theory and go with it...
