The Charlotte 49ers and the Michigan Wolverines face off on Sunday in San Juan in the Championship game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
The Charlotte 49ers have stormed to the Championship with solid and dominating play in their first two games. Charlotte opened with a convincing win over Kansas State and followed it soundly beating upstart Northeastern. Against Northeastern Shawn Lester led the way scoring 20 points. Ben Cherry had 18 points and Terrence Williams had 13 points. Pierria Henry has 11 points and six rebounds, Mike Thorne Jr. had 10 points, 8 rebounds, and four blocks, and Willie Clayton had 10 points and seven rebounds. Charlotte shot 50.9 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, and 78.6 percent from the free throw line. Charlotte doesn’t have a lot of depth but they have big talent among their starters.

The Michigan Wolverines knocked off Long Beach State in their opening round game and followed it up with an exciting win over Florida State. After trailing by 10 points at halftime Michigan scored the tying bucket as time expired and eventually won it by two in overtime. Nik Stauskas had 26 points to lead Michigan including the game tying shot as time expired in regulation. Derrick Walton had 15 points and six assists, Mitch McGary had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Glenn Robinson III had 13 points and five rebounds. Michigan shot 43.1 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc and won the battle on the boards. Michigan has plenty of experience in big games.
Michigan is 10-3 against the spread in their last 13 neutral site games. Charlotte is 4-0-1 against the spread in their last five games, 5-1 against the spread following a win, and 6-2 against the spread in their last eight neutral site games.
This line s out of hand and based on a public familiarity with the Wolverines and nothing more as I believe Charlotte has a very good chance to win outright but getting double digits this is a gift.
