The Cal Golden Bears and the Arkansas Razorbacks face off on Monday afternoon in Maui in college basketball action.
The Cal Golden Bears are off to a 4-0 start but the schedule is about to get much tougher. Mike Montgomery’s team has played the 327th ranked schedule in the nation thus far but in Maui the field is much more difficult. Jabari Bird leads the Bears and he is averaging 13.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Tyrone Wallace is averaging 12.8 points, Justin Cobbs is averaging 11.2 points and 6.2 assists, and Richard Solomon is averaging 11 points and 12.5 rebounds. Cal is averaging 74.8 points per game and they are shooting 45.1 percent from the field, 36.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 68.6 percent from the free throw line and their opponents shoot 34.3 percent from the floor and average 55.2 points per game.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are off to a 3-0 start and they have already been tested this season. Mike Anderson’s team has played the 41st ranked schedule and in his third year with the Hogs he is putting his players in place. Alandise Harris is averaging is averaging 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.7 blocks per game to lead the Razorbacks. Michael Qualls is averging 16.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, Anthlon Bell is averaging 12.3 points, and Bobby Portis is averaging 9.3 points and 4.0 rebounds. Arkansas is averaging 88 points per game while shooting 48.9 percent from the floor, 41.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 74.5 percent from the free throw line while defensively they allow 68.7 points and their opponents shoot 41.4 percent.
Cal is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five neutral site games, and 5-2 against the spread following a win. Arkansas is 9-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 4-0 against the spread in their last four non-conference games, and 4-1 against the spread in their last five games.
This one is a coin flip and in those cases getting more than a three-point bucket is where I am going to be even though in this case I probably won’t be anywhere near this one as there are just a lot better places to be on today’s card.
