The 21st-ranked Iowa State Cyclones return home to host the UMKC Kangaroos Monday night.
Iowa State comes in off a tough two-game road stretch that solidified its top 25 ranking with an impressive 77-70 victory over 7th-ranked Michigan and a 90-88 win over BYU Wednesday in a thriller. Standout 6-6 senior F Melvin Ejim scored 21 points on 53 percent from the field and made 3 of 6 from beyond the arc as the Cyclones fought off several late runs from the Cougars to take the lead for good at the five-minute mark. BYU remained close, cutting the lead to 89-88 with four seconds left before 6-8 junior F Daniel Edozie made a key defensive stop, blocking a baseline jumper from Tyler Hawes then made a clutch free throw to end the game. Iowa State shot 42 percent from the field, 28 percent from distance and hit 12 of 20 from the line. 6-4 senior G Deandre Kane had 21 points and 11 rebounds on 60 percent shooting and 6-7 sophomore F George Niang added 19 points, 8 assists and five rebounds on 47 percent from the field.

Missouri-Kansas City comes in at 1-3 and off their first win of the season over Tennessee-Martin 79-67 Wednesday. 6-9 senior F Fred Chatmon scored 20 points on 75 percent from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds and 6-6 junior G Frank Williams added 12 points and five assists. The Kangaroos shot 58 percent from the field, 46 percent from beyond the arc, and hit 14 of 22 from the free throw line.
The line in this one is currently set at -16.5 for Iowa State. The Cyclones have already proven that they're likely to shoot up in the rankings at some point, but they probably won’t see a ranked opponent till conference play starts so it could be a little while. As for the here and now, this is undoubtedly a double-digit mismatch. The Cyclones cover.
