The South Florida Bulls and the Oklahoma State Cowboys face off on Monday in college basketball action.
The South Florida Bulls are off to a 4-0 start this season as they begin play in the American Athletic Conference. Stan Heath’s team hasn’t faced very tough competition as of yet but they have gotten it done. Corey Allen Jr. is averaging 16.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game to lead the Bulls. Victor Rudd is averaging 15 points and 4.0 rebounds, Anthony Collins is averaging 11 points and 5.5 assists, and Martino Brock is averaging 9.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.5 steals. USF averages 77.5 points and they are shooting 48.3 percent from the floor, 34 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 69.7 percent from the free throw line while defensively they are allowing 62.8 points and their opponents shoot 37.8 percent. South Florida is one of the better defensive teams in the country.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are off to a 4-0 start and they are ranked ninth in the nation so far. Travis Ford’s Cowboys have played the 191st ranked schedule but that includes a 21-point win over Memphis. Marcus Smart is averaging 20 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 4.2 steals per game and he is the leader of the Cowboys. Markel Brown is averaging 16.5 points, Phil Forte is averaging 15.8 points, Le’Bryan Nash is averaging 11.5 points and 7.2 rebounds, and Brian Williams is averaging 11.2 points and 5.0 rebounds. OSU is averaging 102 points per game and they are shooting 52.2 percent from the floor, 45.5 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 72.2 percent from the free throw line while defensively they are allowing 61.2 points and their opponents shoot 36.8 percent. Oklahoma State has played like a top ten team so far.
South Florida is 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 games, 4-9 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 4-1 against the spread when their opponent scores more than 100 points in their previous game. Oklahoma State is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven road games, 8-3-1 against the spread in their last 12 non-conference games, and 2-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
The number here looks to be big for what looks to be a defensive game and while I am hesitant to lay it my early thoughts have OSU in at least the Elite 8 if not better so I see them getting the best of this one going away. Oklahoma State just seems to have too much offensive firepower and as good defense as the Bulls.
