The DePaul Blue Demons and the Texas Longhorns face off on Tuesday in college basketball action in Kansas City.
The DePaul Blue Demons started off reasonably well against Wichita State on Monday but by the end of the first half it was clear they were in deep trouble. The Blue Demons were simply overmatched and they fought the good fight but were blown out by the Shockers. Cleveland Melvin leads DePaul averaging 16.8 points per game and 6.4 rebounds. Brandon Young is averaging 15.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, Tommy Hamilton Jr. is averaging 11 points and 4.6 rebounds, and Billy Garrett Jr. is averaging 6.8 points. DePaul is averaging 79.4 points and they are shooting 47.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 73.2 points and their opponents shoot 46.4 percent. DePaul is still looking to turn the corner as a program and here is another opportunity against a quality opponent.

The Texas Longhorns entered Monday’s game against BYU unbeaten but they left taking their first loss of the year. UT fought hard and led several times late but couldn’t hold on to get the win. Jonathan Holmes leads Texas averaging 14 points and 6.8 rebounds. Demarcus Holland averages 10.2 points and 5.2 rebounds, Isaiah Taylor averages 9.8 points, and Connor Lammert averages 8.6 points and 6.6 rebounds as Javan Felix is still out with a hip injury. Texas is averaging 80.6 points and they are shooting 44.8 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 71.8 points and their opponents shoot 41.1 percent. Texas will look to recover and bounce back quickly from Monday’s disappointment.
DePaul is 17-8 against the spread in their last 25 non-conference games, 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 games, and 1-7 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Texas is 1-4 against the spread against the Big East, 8-2 against the spread following a loss, and 0-5-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread.
The total is set at 161 and I have this one staying under as both team play it close to the vest. I also have a pick on who will cover the spread that I posted in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
