The Xavier Musketeers and the Iowa Hawkeyes face off on Thursday in the Bahamas in college basketball tournament action.
The Xavier Musketeers are off to a 5-0 start to the season as they have a brutal Big East schedule to look forward to. The Musketeers have played the 153rd ranked schedule in the country but it figures to come up ranked about 4th in the nation when all is said and done. Semaj Christon leads XU averaging 16.4 points and 5.0 assists per game. Matt Stainbrook is averaging 10.2 point sand 9.2 rebounds, Isaiah Philmore is averaging 8.5 points and 4.2 rebounds, and Dee Davis is averaging 8.3 points and 5.7 assists. Xavier is averaging 79.8 points and they are shooting 52.5 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 58.8 points and their opponents are shooting 38.8 percent. Xavier always seems to play a style that is perfect for tourney play.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are off to a 5-0 start and they are ranked 23rd in the nation. Iowa has been building for years but this could be the year Fran McCaffrey’s team makes the leap to the next level. Roy Devyn Marble is averaging 14.6 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.2 steals per game to lead the Hawkeyes. Aaron White is averaging 13.6 points and 7.6 rebounds, Jared Uthoff is averaging 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds, and Peter Jok is averaging 9.4 points. Iowa is averaging 92.6 points and they are shooting 47.5 percent while defensively they are allowing 54.6 points and their opponents shoot 31.2 percent. Iowa has yet to be tested so this should tell us more about the Hawkeyes.
Xavier is 10-1 against the spread against the Big Ten, 4-0 against the spread following a win, and 4-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Iowa is 12-2 against the spread in their last 14 non-conference games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five neutral site games, and 20-6 against the spread in their last 26 games.
I am expecting a low scoring game and I like the under with my free pick. I also have a pick on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as making it available on the App.
