The Tennessee Volunteers go for their fourth straight win when they meet the UTEP Miners in the Battle 4 Atlantis on Thanksgiving Day.
The Volunteers have won three in a row since dropping their season opener to Xavier behind the steady play of senior G Jordan McRae, who’s led Tennessee in scoring each time out. The Vols dismantled Tennessee State 88-67 Nov. 22 in Knoxville, shooting 55 percent from the field and 44 percent from distance. McRae scored 25 points on 69 percent from the field, 50 percent from distance and hit 5 of 5 from the free throw line. Junior F Jarnell Stokes had 16 points and 8 boards on 62 percent shooting and hit 6 of 8 from the line. McRae leads the Vols with 21.5 ppg on 51percent shooting and 45 percent from downtown. Stokes is averaging 11.5 ppg and 8.3 rpg and senior F Jeronne Maymon averages 9.3 ppg and 8.5 rpg.

Texas-El Paso comes in with a record of 3-2 and off its second loss of the young season to New Mexico State at home on Nov. 23. Junior F Cedrick Lang had 21 points and 10 rebounds on 63 percent from the field and made 7 of 10 from the free throw line. The Miners shot 43 percent from the floor, 30 percent from beyond the arc and hit 21 of 30 from the free throw line. On the season, junior G McKenzie Moore leads the team in scoring with 14 ppg on 57 percent shooting and 37 percent from beyond the arc, while Lang averages 11 ppg on 55 percent from the field.
The line in this one currently has the Vols a 7 point favorite and they do get the lean here after taking Xavier to the wire and thrashing a tough Citadel team.
