The Butler Bulldogs and Washington Cougars meet in the Old Spice Classic on Thanksgiving day.

Butler was one of the best mid majors over the years but I don't think mid major describes their program any longer as they have made the schedule more difficult with their third conference change in as many years. It's still hard to get a handle on this team after three straight close games that was capped off by a 59-58 decision over Ball State that upped their record to 4-0. The Bulldogs led by seven at the half but struggled to put the Cardinals away with just 35.5% shooting the reason. The home team connected at 42% and committed 17 turnovers to create 12 more looks that Butler needed. The Bulldogs received 14 points and nine rebounds from Khyle Marshall with Elijah Brown tossing in 13 while Cameron Woods added 12 points and ten pulls with Alex Barlow chipping in with ten.

The 2-2 Cougars look to break back in to the win column following consecutive defeats. Consistency has been an issue at both ends of the floor with the defense either playing well or not with the offense following suit. The scoring was a little off in a 64-62 loss to Texas Christian in a slow paced game where hitting shots was key. The Horned Frogs did at 54% and WSU didn't at 36.5% although the Cougars had a chance to win thanks to a huge 13-2 advantage on three pointers. DaVonte Lacy led all scores with 18 points that included five bombs with Royce Woodridge next in line with 13 points while Dexter Kernich-Drew and DJ Shelton added 13 and nine points respectively with Shelton hauling down a game high eleven rebounds.

Not much in common between the two with Butler playing games close enough to make laying the points a worry. Washington State is struggling for consistency and at least the Bulldogs are winning...
