The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the USC Trojans face off on Friday in college basketball action at the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons fought the good fight on Thursday but they were no match for Kansas. The loss was Wake’s first of the season but of course it was their first real test as well. Codi Miller-McIntyre leads Wake Forest averaging 19.8 points and 4.7 assists per game. Devin Thomas is averaging 13.3 points and 10.3 rebounds, Travis McKie is averaging 11.2 points and 6.2 rebounds, and Coron Williams is averaging 11 points. Wake Forest is averaging 84.3 points and they are shooting 44.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 70.2 points and their opponents are shooting 38.9 percent from the floor. Wake has several tough games on the schedule before they begin ACC play in January.

The USC Trojans were no match for Villanova on Thursday as they were blown out. While the final score showed Southern Cal losing by 15, it could have been much worse. Byron Wesley leads USC as he is averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds per game. Omar Oraby is averaging 12.2 points and 7.2 rebounds, Pe’Shon Howard is averaging 9.7 points, and Nikola Javanovic is averaging 7.0 points. USC is averaging 75.8 points and they are shooting 45.2 percent while defensively they are allowing 72.2 points and their opponents are shooting 38.6 percent. USC will need to put Thursday’s game behind them in a hurry.
Wake Forest is 5-0 against the spread in their last five non-conference games, 1-4 against the spread against the Pac-12, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. USC is 10-24-1 against the spread following a loss, 1-4 against the spread in their last five neutral site games, and 3-10-1 against the spread in their last 14 non-conference games.
USC looked so bad on Thursday it is hard to believe this line is so low making it either an outright gift or a trap. If it's a trap I will take the bait for a free pick.
