The Washington State Cougars and the Purdue Boilermakers face off on Friday in Orlando in college basketball’s Old Spice Classic.
The Washington State Cougars battled with butler for a full 40 minutes but in the end they just didn’t have enough taking the loss. The loss was WSU’s third in a row with the previous two coming to Gonzaga and TCU. DaVonte Lacy leads the Cougars averaging 21.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. Ike Iroegbu is averaging 11 points, Royce Woolridge is averaging 9.2 points, and Dexter Kernich-Drew is averaging 7.4 points. Washington State is averaging 70.2 points and they are shooting 42.1 percent while defensively they are allowing 70 points and their opponents are shooting 49.6 percent. Washington State’s schedule should continue to stay tough all season as the Pac-12 looks to be a solid conference.

The Purdue Boilermakers took their first loss of the season on Thursday as they fell to Oklahoma State. The Boilermakers were in a deep hole in the first half and they mounted a big comeback but it came up short. Ronnie Johnson leads Purdue averaging 13.2 points and 4.5 assists per game. Terone Johnson is averaging 12.5 points, Bryson Scott is averaging 11.8 points, and A.J. Hammons is averaging 8.2 points and 5.0 rebounds. Purdue is averaging 86.3 points and they are shooting 47.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 75.2 points and their opponents are shooting 40.5 percent. Purdue looks to have a team that will be competitive all season long.
Washington State is 16-5-1 against the spread in their last 22 non-conference games, 3-7-1 against the spread following a loss, and 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 neutral site games. Purdue is 7-3 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five neutral site games.
Both of these teams can score like no one's business so I like the over with my free pick. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I posted that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
