The Villanova Wildcats take the floor with the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Battle 4 Atlantis championship.
Villanova is beginning to look like the team that was a threat to anybody a few short years ago and if you don't believe me then Kansas will back me up. The Jayhawks dropped a 63-59 decision to the Wildcats in the Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals that saw Nova improve to 5-0. The Jahawks trailed 29-22 at the half and were held to under 40% shooting which Nova countered with 34.6%. Even though Kansa sank more field goals the Wildcats pulled this out with a 9-3 edge from distance. Darrun Hilliard and Dylan Ennis led all scorers with 14 points each and ten pulls with JayVaughn Pinkston tossing in 13 points and grabbing seven boards while James Bell chipped in with ten.

Iowa has not been a team that oppenents have wanted to see in the early stages of 2013-14 because they have been rolling in all areas. Aside from a three point overtime decision to Xavier the Hawkeyes have been racking up points and putting the squeeze defensively. Iowa upped their record to 6-0 following an 89-53 rout of Texas El Paso with a 25 point lead at the break essentially taking all the mystery out of this one. The Miners were held to 34.5% accuracy while the Hawkeyes nailed shots at a hefty 52.5% which translated in to 13 more field goals. Aaron White pumped in 17 points with Zach McCabe and Peter Jok tossing in 14 points apiece while Melsahn Basabe contributed ten. Overall eleven players managed to find the scoring column.
The line hasn't been released but Iowa will be favored by 8 points or so against a Villanova squad that can be dangerous. I have time to think this one over and I'll post when the spread is released.
