Nebraska looks for two consecutive victories when they host the Northern Illinois Saturday in Lincoln.
The Cornhuskers come in with a record of 4-2 and off a solid 73-65 victory over Georgia Nov. 24 in which they used a 23-13 run to close out the game and finish seventh in the eight-team Charleston Classic. Junior F Terran Petteway scored a team-high 15 points on 30 percent from the field, grabbed 7 boards and hit 9 of 10 from the foul line. Freshman G Tai Webster scored 13 of his 14 points in the second half on 50 percent from the field and 7 of 9 from the stripe. Junior F Leslee Smith had 8 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore F Walter Pitchford added 12 points on 62 percent from the field. Nebraska shot 42 percent from the floor, 41 percent from distance and hit 22 of 27 free throws. The Cornhuskers average 76.8 ppg on 45 percent from the field and Petteway leads the team in scoring with 16.3 ppg.

Northern Illinois comes into the contest with a record of 2-3 and off a 111-61 dismantling of Division II St. Joseph’s of Indiana. The Huskies used a 17-2 run to distance themselves from the Pumas after leading by just six points at the half. Sophomore G Darrell Bowie had a gamne-high 23 points and 12 rebounds on 66 percent shooting and made 11 of 14 from the free throw line. Sophomore G J.J. Cravatta added 20 points on 42 percent from the field and made 4 of 11 from beyond the arc. For the game, Northern Illinois shot 50 percent from the floor, 31 percent from distance and hit 22 of 32 from the foul line. Through five games, the Huskies are averaging 72.2 ppg on 41 percent shooting and Bowie leads the team in scoring with 12.2 ppg and rebounds at 7.0 per contest.
The line in this one currently has Nebraska a 17-point favorite and the Cornhuskers have some pretty good wins, including a thrashing of Florida Gulf Coast and their last over Georgia. The Huskies shouldn’t be able to matchup here.
