The Pitt Panthers battle city rival the Duquesne Dukes in the Progressive Legends Classic.
Pittsburgh has been performing like the teams we saw several years ago that were ranked in the top 25 and the obvious question is can they continue the pace. The Panthers are off to a 6-0 start behind outstanding play at both ends of the floor. Stanford received a Bird's Eye view of Pitt and didn't like what they saw in 88-67 defeat. The Cardinal actually sank half the looks with Pitt hitting at 45.5% but the Panthers connected on a few more threes and dominated the charity stripe by a 30-14 margin. Lamar Patterson poured in 24 points with Talib Zanna and Durand Johnson adding 14 each while Cameron Wright and James Robinson scored 13 and ten points.

I say often that we don't a lot about many teams and Duquesne fits that description with seven players gone from a season ago. I do know the Dukes have been scoring the basketball and the defense has yet to gel although both ends of the floor were solid in a 71-59 decision over Albany. This one was one sided through 20 minutes with the Great Danes trailing 30-16 with Duquesne holding off a second half rally. The Dukes hit at 45.5% from the field with Albany checking in at 43% with the only real difference being the Dukes hit a few more from long range with a few more free throws as well. Ovie Sokie was dominant with 23 points and 13 rebounds with Tra'Vaughn White tossing in 18 points and dishing out five helpers while Jeremiah Jones contributed ten points.
Big ugly spread which I expected which I am not a fan of. I have backed Duquesne the past few years and lost which makes me hesitant in this game so I'll switch gears and take the Panthers but no bet for me...
