The Miami Hurricanes take the hardwood with the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Wooden Legacy.
Miami wasn't picked to finish very high in the ACC so everything positive they accomplish is a good thing. Plenty of new faces is the reason for some up and down performances which makes them a difficult team to get a handle on. A 48-46 win over Cal State Fullerton in the Wooden Legacy wasn't one for the scrapbooks but a win is a win. The Hurricanes led by six at the break but couldn't shake the Titans despite holding them to 35% shooting. Miami hit at 43% but left the door open for CSF with a 3-10 effort at the stripe. James Kelly was the Canes only double figure scorer with ten points and seven boards with Davon Reed and Rion Brown tossing in nine points apiece with Brown hauling in eight rebounds.

Arizona State has been a very potent offensive team with some solid work at the defensive end as well which has them going 7-1 out of the gate. The Sun Devils rebounded from a poor showing versus Creighton to pound Charleston 80-58 with both ends of the floor coming together for an easy win. ASU burned the nets at nearly 54% including 8-19 from beyond the arc to out distance the Cougars and their 35.6% mark from the field. CofC did grab 16 offensive rebounds which were negated by 15 turnovers as the Sun Devils played one of their more complete games to date. Jahii Carson pumped in a game high 21 points and handed out seven assists while Jordan Bachynski and Jonathan Gilling added 16 and 15 points with a 12 point effort by Egor Koulechov rounding things out.
I have had a difficult time nailing down Miami thus far and going forward I don't know if I could bet them at all unless I see something change for the good. I'll back Arizona State who I think has a decent shot at a cover but who knows what the Hurricanes will do...
