The #24 Virginia Commonwealth Rams go on the road to face the Belmont Bruins in Sunday action.
Virginia Commonwealth lives off of their defense creating turnovers which in turn createsing opportunities. That is why the Rams have won five times and when the defense fails to force turnovers bad things happen which explains their two defeats. VCU forced 16 giveaways by Northeastern in a 79-66 decision which contributed to 14 more looks and negated the Huskies 50% shooting. The Rams connected at 55% which meant game over with the better shooting team launching more shots. Treveon Graham led the Rams with 24 points and eight rebounds with Juvonte Reddic adding 17 points and grabbing ten boards while Melvin Johnson tossed in 13.

I think Belmont has become a victim of their own success with the expectations unrealistically high. The Bruins haven't always been dominant in fashioning their 7-1 record but they were in a 102-68 rout of Brescia although the Bearcats shot the ball at 48% and were 11-23 on threes. The bad news was they gave the ball away 19 times to a Bruins offense that hit at a torid 61.8% from the floor including a 12-23 mark from long range. Drew Windler paced the scoring spree with a game best 18 points with a 15 point effort coming from Evan Bradds. JJ Mann was next in line with 14 points and six assists while Nick Smith and Chad Lang combined for 21 points as the entire eleven man rotation scored.
Virginia Commonwealth has to win or they are out of the top 25. I think both teams are capable of winning and the Rams probably more so but I'm simply taking the points in a toss up...
