The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers visit the Mississippi State Bulldogs for the second straight meeting.
Loyola-Chicago improved to 3-4 on the season with a 73-72 decision over SIU-Edwardsville in a rather high scoring affair for a team that hasn't been known for their offense. The Ramblers have put points on the board at times thus far in the early stages of 2013-14 and we'll have to see if that continues. The Ramblers connected at 57% from the floor which almost wasn't good enough with the Cougars hitting at 51% from the floor and sinking a few more threes while Illinois-Chicago went 11-17 at the line to leave points on the floor. The trio of Christian Thomas, Jeff White and Matt O'Leary each scored 14 points with 12 pulls and eleven assists while Nick Osborne adding ten points.

Mississippi State is off to a solid start although the schedule hasn't been the most difficult. The Bulldogs had their share of struggles a year ago and a win against anybody is a positive especially with a tough SEC slate awaiting them. MSU upped their record to 4-1 with a tight 58-56 victory over visiting Jackson State. The Tigers led by seven heading in to the locker room before 37% shooting caught up to them with a 1-10 mark from distance hurting the most. The Bulldogs over came 17 giveaways with 43.5% from the floor being just enough behind three double digit scorers. Craig Sword tossed in 12 points and grabbed five yanks with Fred Thomas and Roguez Johnson adding eleven points with Thomas snaring another six rebounds.
I have followed Loyola-Chicago and I know that keeping the scoreboard from getting out of hand and not falling behind early are keys. The Ramblers upset Mississippi State a season ago and I doubt they do it again but I have a hard time ignoring the points...
