The Southern Methodist Mustangs travel to the UIC Pavilion to take on the Illinois-Chicago Flames.
Southern Methodist has been strong at the offensive end and have played solid defense and the result has been a 7-2 start. The Mustangs schedule hasn't been over whelming but they are beating lower tier competition easily with an 87-59 decision over McNeese State as proof. SMU wasted no time in taking out the mystery of this one with a 52-17 lead at the break with the Cowboys sinking shots at 32.8% while the Mustangs checked in at 59.6% which translated in to 14 more makes from the floor. Nic Moore led the scoring spree with 15 points followed by Ben Moore with 12 points, six pulls and five assists while four others added between 8-9 points.

Although we are still in the early stages of the season it's been either feast or famine for Illinois-Chicago who has shown scoring potential at times but has yet to get their defense on the same page. The offense didn't need much help in a 94-76 rout of Wagner behind 51% markmanship including 34 makes at the charity stripe. The Seahawks were limited to 40% from the field and done in by a 2-14 mark from beyond the arc and the Flames not missing the freebies at the stripe. Kelsey Barlow was unstoppable with 38 points, seven pulls and five helpers while JKake Weigand and Pat Birt tossed in eleven points each. Altogether eleven players found the scoring column as the Flames emptied the bench.
Southern Methodist looks like a solid team thus far and need to keep rolling with a tough conference slate coming soon enough. If the Mustangs play as capable then they will get the job done...
