The Akron Zips travel to the CSU Convocation Center to take the hardwood with the Cleveland State Vikings.
Akron has played just three games thus far and their 1-2 start isn't the best way to kick off the year but losses at Saint Mary's and Middle Tennessee State are nothing to be ashamed of. The loss to the Blue Raiders was there for the taking with a tie game at the half with MTSU winning 80-73. Even though the Zips shot the ball reasonably well at 47% but the home team burned the nets at 56% and won it at the charity stripe with 20-12 edge in an even boxscore in most other areas. The Zips offense received a game high 25 points and five pulls from Quincy Diggs with seven turnovers while Pat Forsythe added eleven points and and five pulls.

Cleveland State sits at 4-4 through eight games against some decent competition and I'll say I expected to be exactly where they are given their schedule. The Vikings have certainly been able to score the basketball although the defense could be a bit better. CSU comes in off of an 85-82 triple overtime loss to Drexel where the offense nailed half their looks including ten long balls but gave the ball away 17 times. That gave the Dragons eight more shots to boost their 42% marksmanship and their 24-14 edge at the line took care of the rest. John Harris pumped in 27 points including four bombs with Bryn Forbes adding another 23 points followed by a 15 point, eight assist effort by Trey Lewis who also turned the ball over seven times.
Akron has hardly played which makes it difficult to get a feel for them but I don't think there is night and day difference between these teams. If Demetrius Treadwell plays I'd be inclined to back the points...
