The Gonzaga Bulldogs and the New Mexico State Aggies face off on Saturday as they close out the college basketball action for the day.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are ranked 19th in the nation with their lone loss coming in tournament play to Dayton who is also ranked. The Zags have played the 61st ranked schedule in the nation and continue to take on tough out of conference opponents. Kevin Pangos is the leader of the Bulldogs averaging 20.4 points and 4.1 assists per game. Gary Bell is averaging 15 points, Sam Dower is averaging 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, and Przemek Karnowski is averaging 8.9 points and 7.4 rebounds. Gonzaga is averaging 91.8 points per game and they are shooting 55.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 71.9 points and their opponents are shooting 41.7 percent. Last season Gonzaga was a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament but they would be hard pressed to be able to repeat theat.

The New Mexico State Aggies have lost their last two games but they are 7-3 thus far this season. The Aggies lost to Colorado State and rival New Mexico and if they don’t pull the upset here it could be four losses in a row as they face Arizona next. Daniel Mullings is averaging 17.7 points to lead NMSU. DK Eldridge is averaging 12.1 points, Sim Bhullar is averaging 9.7 points and 7.6 rebounds, and Tshilidzi Nephawe is averaging 9.1 points and 6.7 rebounds. New Mexico State is averaging 78.2 points and they are shooting 48.3 percent while defensively they are allowing 69.7 points and their opponents are shooting 40.5 percent. New Mexico State begins WAC play on January 9th.
Gonzaga is 2-5-1 against the spread in their last eight non-conference games, 3-7-1 against the spread following a win by 20 or more points, and 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 home games against a team with a winning road record. New Mexico State is 7-2 against the spread in their last nine road games, 6-2 against the spread against the WCC, and 2-6 against the spread in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record.
This is a big number which makes it tough to lay as NMSU has the better defensively numbers so where the line originally opened closer to 11 is about right so getting more than that I am taking the points.
