Former conference rivals collide when the Illinois-Chicago Flames visit the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers.
I don't know if much has changed for Illinois-Chicago from the past few years and to me that means don't let the scoreboard get out of hand. The Flames did keep things reasonable on the scoring front against Southern Methodist but their own offense fell short in a 73-65 defeat. The Mustangs fired away at 54% with the Flames struggling to just 35% which was decisive although UIC stayed reasonably close because of nine more looks and a few more threes. Kelsey Barlow kept this from being a rout with a game high 31 points and six pulls with Gabe Snider and Hayden Humes tossing in eight points apiece.

Loyola-Chicago is in the same boat as their counterparts in that they have to be able to manage the scoreboard and they have at times but have not gotten the offense and defense on the same page often enough. The offense came up just short in a 65-64 overtime defeat at Mississippi State. The Ramblers hit shots at 42.6% with the Bulldogs checking in at nearly 47% with a boxscore that saw each team hold advantages. LCU sank a few more threes and mustered seven more shots but Mississippi State held a 17-12 edge at the charity stripe. Milton Doyle paced the Ramblers attack with 22 points while Christian Thomas added 12 points and nine rebounds followed by Devon Turk with ten points.
These teams know each other like the back of their own hand and I don't see a ton of difference between them. That means grab the points...
