The St. Joseph’s Hawks and the Villanova Wildcats faceoff on Saturday in a college basketball matchup.
The St. Joseph Hawks are 4-3 on the season and they coming off of a tough loss at Temple. St. Joe’s has played the 253rd ranked schedule but it seems they have played a lot of name teams like Creighton and LSU. Ronald Gallloway leads the Hawks averaging 18.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Ronald Roberts Jr. is averaging 17.7 points and 7.4 rebounds, DeAndre Bembry is averaging 10.1 points, and Halil Kanacevic is averaging 8.6 points and 7.7 rebounds. St. Joseph’s is averaging 74 points and they are shooting 46.3 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 71.6 points and their opponents shoot 45.4 percent. St. Joe’s schedule will get increasingly more difficult when A-10 play begins.

The Villanova Wildcats are quickly becoming one of the early stories this college basketball season as they are off to an 8-0 start. Jay Wright’s team has knocked off Iowa and Kansas playing the 49th ranked schedule in the nation. James Bell leads Villanova averaging 16.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. JayVaughn Pinkston is averaging 16.6 points and 5.0 rebounds, Darrun Hilliard is averaging 13.8 points and 5.1 rebounds, and Ryan Arcidiacono is averaging 9.0 points. As a team Villanova is averaging 81.1 points and they are shooting 43.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 64.6 points and their opponents are shooting 37.9 percent. Villanova is playing a true road game for the first time though they have three neutral site wins.
St. Joseph’s is 7-2 against the spread in their last nine home games, 22-10 against the spread following a loss, 7-19 against the spread in their last 26 games against a team with a winning record. Villanova is 4-0 against the spread in their last four games, 1-8-1 against the spread against the A-10, and 4-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record. The home team is 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings of these two.
The home team owns this series but Villanova has been the better of these two so laying the points with the road team doesn’t seem unreasonable at all.
