The Texas Longhorns head to the City of Brotherly Love to face the Temple Owls on Saturday.
Is this the season Texas gets back in to the rankings and makes some noise in the Big 12? That's a definite maybe with the Longhorns sitting with a 7-1 record behing an offense that is averaging 78 points. Texas has won three straight following a 70-64 decisin over visiting Vanderbilt in one of their best defensive efforts of the young year where they limited the Commodores to 38% from the field while hitting at 44.6%. That difference was enough to win with everything else relatively close. Isaiah Taylor topped four DD scorers with 14 points, five pulls and eight helpers with Demarcus Holland and Javan Felix adding 12 points each while Kendal Yancy and Jonathan Holmes combined for 20 points and 13 rebounds.

It hasn't been a typical start for Temple but the last week or so might be a sign of things to come. The Owls had lost three in a row but have suddenly won three straight after downing rival Saint Joseph's by a 77-69 count. The Owls continued to score the basketball on 44% accuracy that combined with a defense that gaveup 38.5% shooting and forced 15 turnovers. Toss in five more makes at the linee and this was a solid all around performance. Dalton Pepper and Will Cummings each contributed 16 points with Cummings posting seven helpers followed by a 15 point, eleven performance by Anthony Lee while Quenton DeCosey chipped in with ten points.
Temple can score but opponents can as well which makes them vulnerable. Texas has the better record but are they the better team? We'll see...
