The Illinois Fighting illini and the Auburn Tigers face off on Sunday in college basketball action in Atlanta.
The Illinois Fighting Illini are off to a 7-1 start this season but they are coming off of their first loss of the year at Georgia Tech. Illinois has played the 165th ranked schedule in the nation but it is slated to become the fourth toughest when all is said and done. Rayvonte Rice is averaging 18 points and 5.9 rebounds to lead UI. Joseph Bertrand is averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds, Tracy Abrams is averaging 10.6 points, and Nnanna Egwu is averaging 9.1 points and 6.2 rebounds. Illinois is averaging 71.3 points and they are shooting 42.4 percent while defensively they are allowing 58.4 points and their opponents are shooting 37 percent. Illinois seems to still have some question marks.

The Auburn Tigers are off to a 4-2 start but they have played the 340th ranked schedule in the nation> Tony Barbee has some talent to work with but they are going to need to put last games’ 29-point shellacking at the hands of Iowa State out of their minds. Chris Denson leads Auburn as he is averaging 21.8 points and 6.0 rebounds. K.T. Harrell is averaging 17.7 points and 5.0 rebounds, Tahj Shamsid-Tatum is averaging 8.5 points and 6.3 rebounds, and Allen Payne is averaging 7.0 points and 5.8 rebounds. Auburn is averaging 78.2 points and they are shooting 44 percent while defensively they are allowing 76.3 points and their opponents are shooting 44.4 percent. Auburn faces Clemson and Boston College in their next two games.
Illinois is 5-2-2 against the spread in their last nine games, 5-2-2 against the spread in their last nine non-conference games, and 2-5 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread. Auburn is 2-11 against the spread in their last 13 games, 1-9 against the spread following a loss, and 0-8 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
The number here appears to be on the high side but I am going to lay the points in what is just a lean.
