The Maryland Terrapins are 5-3 on the season but they are coming off of a blowout loss at Ohio State. Maryland has played the 139th ranked schedule in the country but it is going to get increasingly difficult as the season goes on. Jake Layman leads Maryland averaging 14.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Evan Smotrycz is averaging 13.9 points and 7.5 rebounds, Dezmine Wells is averaging 13.6 and 4.8 rebounds, and Charles Mitchell is averaging 9.9 points and 7.2 rebounds. Maryland is averaging 72.5 points and they are shooting 45 percent while defensively they are allowing 63.9 points and their opponents are shooting 40.2 percent. Maryland just doesn’t look like they are going to be a factor this year.
George Washington is 17-40-2 against the spread in their last 59 non-conference games, 3-10-1 against the spread in their last 14 games, and 1-7 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread. Maryland is 4-0 against the spread in their last four neutral site games, 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 non-conference games, and 7-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
George Washington is the better team and getting them with points seems to be a gift.
