The Green Bay Phoenix clash with the Eastern Michigan Eagles at the Convocation Center.
I know many have selected Green Bay as one of the teams to beat in the Horizon but I also know there are several other capable teams in this league. Having said that the Phoenix have indeed played well with a narrow loss to Wisconsin and a three point decision over Virginia. GB proved they must be taken seriously after dowining the Cavaliers in a game dominated by offense with both teams sinking half their shots. The differences were slight but significant with the home team forcing 14 turnovers which translated in to five more shots and a few more field goals. Greg Mays pumped in a game high 24 points followed by a 21 point, ten assist effort from Keifer Sykes with Carrington love chipping in with ten.

Through eight games it is obvious that anybody that follows MAC basketball knows Eastern Michigan has an improved look. The Eagles have dropped three in a row after a 5-0 start but the defeats came to Kentucky, UMass and Purdue so no shame there. EMU gave the Boilermakers a battle in a 69-64 defeat where the shooting was nearly dead even which made 19 giveaways by the Eagles costly and a 23-18 deficit at the line decisive. Karrington Ward led all scorers with 25 points and eight boards on 9-16 from the field while Glenn Bryant tossed in eleven points and hauled in nine rebounds. Ray Lee and Darell Combs combined for 16 points to round out the top contributors.
I could make an argument for backing either team and maybe it would be more convincing for Eastern Michigan. However, this is the type of game Green Bay must win if they expect to win the Horizon because this looks tough...
