The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Arkansas State Red Wolves face off on Saturday in Lincoln in college basketball action.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers are looking to build off of their improvement last season but they clearly still have some work to do to be competitive in the Big Ten. Nebraska enters their third year in the Big Ten and after getting their first conference wins last season they are hoping to take it up another level. Terran Petteway leads Nebraska averaging 16.1 points and 5.0 rebounds. Shavon Shields is averaging 13.1 points and 5.2 rebounds, Deverell Biggs is averaging 10 points, and Walter Pitchford is averaging 8.7 points. Nebraska is averaging 72.3 points and they are shooting 43.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 66.2 points and their opponents are shooting 42.3 percent. Nebraska starts their Big Ten schedule on New Year’s Eve against Iowa.

The Arkansas State Red Wolves have won their last three games in a row but overall they haven’t played much of a schedule so far this season. A-State is 2-2 on the road this season and they have played the 341st ranked schedule in the country. Melvin Johnson III is averaging 17.9 points per game to lead the Red Wolves. Kirk Van Slyke is averaging 14.7 points and 5.6 rebounds, Brandon Reed is averaging 9.6 points, and Kendrick Washington is averaging 8.3 points and 6.1 rebounds. As a team Arkansas State is averaging 78.7points per game and they are shooting 44.3 percent while defensively they are allowing 72.4 points and their opponents are shooting 43.5 percent. Arkansas State begins their Sun Belt schedule on January 2nd against Texas-Arlington.
Nebraska is 12-3-1 against the spread following a loss, 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 home games, and 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Arkansas State is 3-9-1 against the spread in their last 13 non-conference games, 1-8 against the spread in their last nine games, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four road games.
This number here looks to be slightly too big so that put me on Arkansas State here.
