The Oregon Ducks and the Illinois Fighting Illini face off on Saturday in college basketball action.
The Oregon Ducks are off to an unbeaten start to the season and they are ranked 15th in the nation. Oregon has played the 117th ranked schedule this year and it should get increasingly tougher over the next few weeks when they begin Pac-12 play. Houston transfer Joseph Young is averaging 20.1 points per game to lead the Ducks. UNLV transfer Mike Moser is averaging 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds, Johnathan Loyd is averaging 11.4 points and 7.4 assists, Jason Calliste is averaging 10.9 points, and Elgin Cook is averaging 10.9 points. Oregon is averaging 91.4 points and they are shooting 52.9 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 74.8 points and their opponents are shooting 41 percent. Oregon could be contenders for the Final Four this season.

The Illinois Fighting Illini are 9-1 for the season going 1-1 on the road so far. UI has played the 243rd ranked schedule in the country and by season’s end it looks like it will be the 6th toughest. Rayvonte Rice is averaging is averaging 17.9 points and 5.7 rebounds to lead the Illini. Tracy Abrams is averaging 11.1 points, Joseph Bertrand is averaging 11 points and 5.5 rebounds, and Jon Ekey is averaging 9.1 points and 6.2 rebounds. Illinois is averaging 72.3 points and they are shooting 45 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 59.4 points and their opponents are shooting 37.8 percent. Illinois has Missouri up next and they don’t see any breaks all season.
Oregon is 8-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 13-3-1 against the spread in their last 17 games overall, and 18-5 against the spread in their last 23 non-conference games. Illinois is 4-1 against the spread in their last five neutral site games, 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five games, and 0-3-1 against the spread following a win.
